Woolworths and Qantas Frequent Flyer are partners, much in the same way that Flybuys and Velocity Frequent Flyer offer points when you shop at Coles.

However, the program is a much smaller program with limited earning and redemption partners, compared to Flybuys. Tasmania also has a different rewards program called ‘Frequent Shoppers Club’, which is not partnered with Qantas, so this guide won’t apply to those who shop in Tassie.

The redemption value is slightly better than Flybuys: 2,000 Everyday Rewards Points will net you 1,000 Qantas Points (in comparison, 2,000 Flybuys Points are equal to 870 Velocity Points unless there is a transfer promotion).

Everyday Rewards transfer to Qantas

The main option that we’re interested in at Point Hacks is converting to Qantas Points. To do this, head to ‘My Account’ and choose the Qantas Points option as below.

Woolworths Rewards

This means that whenever your Everyday Rewards balance reaches 2,000 points, it will automatically transfer to 1,000 Qantas Points. This is different from Flybuys, where your points accumulate and you transfer your chosen amount to Velocity at will.

The value you get out of your Everyday Reward points will depend on how you use your Qantas Points. With easy Economy redemptions, you might get 1c per Qantas Points, which is 0.5 per Everyday Rewards point.

But if you got a high-value premium cabin redemption, then you will be getting a lot more out of your Qantas and Everyday Rewards points.

For example, take a look at Melbourne to Perth in Business Class. A sale fare is $1,600 one-way, or 41,500 Qantas Points and $37 co-payment. This values each Qantas Point at 3.77 cents each.

Booking Qantas Business Class

If you converted 84,000 Everyday Rewards Points to 42,000 Qantas Points to book this award (not an impossible amount to accumulate), you would be getting around 1.9 cents of value per WW point – nearly four times what you’d get at the checkout.

Other redemptions: discount at checkout

The only alternative to earning Qantas Points is to redeem your Everyday Rewards points for money off your shop.

There are two variations – automatically take $10 off whenever you reach 2,000 points, or bank all your points until Christmas and get a potentially bigger discount off your shop from December 1 each year.

Woolworths Rewards

Your Woolworths Dollars can be used for money off shop in-store or online at Woolworths, BWS and participating Caltex Woolworths co-branded fuel outlets. Either way, you’ll be getting a flat 0.5c value per Everyday Rewards point, which is fine as the minimum redemption level.

Summing up

Although Everyday Rewards is a much smaller program than Flybuys, it offers the core essentials for shoppers: redeeming points for $10 off at the check-out, or converting to Qantas Points at a decent rate.

The best value of Everyday Rewards points is obtained from premium cabin redemptions with Qantas and partner airlines through Qantas Frequent Flyer, but this option won’t be viable for everyone.

If you prefer redeeming points for more Qantas Economy flights or having a discount at Woolworths, then your Everyday Rewards points have still been well-spent.

The main downfalls are the lack of other redemption options, partners to earn points, and this version of Everyday Rewards not being open to residents of Tasmania.
