With rehabilitation services few and far between, and the difficulty that parents in rural communities experience in travelling long distances away from home, ROSHNI has a regular programme of visiting remote villages to provide services at site.
By the 5th year (2003) our Outreach services took effect. There was an increase in the referrals of Cerebral Palsy (CP) and other Neurological Syndromes and the male-female ratio. Over 30% of the beneficiaries are from neighbouring districts of M.P. (Bhind, Morena, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna etc.) and other states (Dholpur, Agra, Jhansi, etc.). Our team has been working with the Government agencies for Camps at Morena, Barai, Dabra, Shivpuri, in the last 3 years.
On 17th November ROSHNI staff visited Community Based Rehabilitation Programmes in Dabra and Datia. A parents meeting and the assessment of 8 children took place in Dabra. In Datia the staff visited the Rehab programme at Ajay Memorial Trust to see the preparation for a Respite Care Centre under the National Trust Programme as well assessing children. We had an encouraging meeting with the District Collector, Mr. Shivhare and the district Education Officer. This is part of our Outreach programme, to develop and support further in the year ahead. |
