Awareness raising

A Solidarity Booth was held in the Gwalior Centenary Mela from 21st January to 8th Feburary 2005 with the support of NCPEDP, Delhi. In this booth information regarding various types of disabilities were provided to the people. Information about National Trust (for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities), an autonomous organization of the Ministry of social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, was also given. The publications of the National Trust were on display as well as for sale. Cards and Lemon Grass made/ packed by the children of ROSHNI as part of Pre Vocational training was also displayed for sale. Books on spirituality by the Ramakrishna Mission were also put up for display and sale.
The visitors were requested to sign a pledge, in order to motivate them to contribute to the cause of an INCLUSIVE SOCIETY, to CONSERVE WATER, to make CONSCIOUS EFFORTS to include people with disability in mainstream activities.
A visitors book was maintained. Approximately 215 people took the solidarity pledge and signed the forms representing teachers, NGO members, parents, business community, etc. In addition to these, there were many visitors.
Mr. Ajay Asthana, ROSHNI trainee, his mother, Mrs. Radha Asthana and Mr. Chandru Salunke, a volunteer, rendered their services at the booth.

School Awareness Programme.We have been conducting interactive sessions with school students and teachers to sensitize them on disability issues and for future inclusive education and career guidance.
12 to 15 schools ( Hindi & English medium ) are participating.

World Disabled day Dec. 2002.
An integrated rally with 12 schools and NGOs commenced at RK Ashrama and culminated in a cultural show presided by the district collector and other administrators.
 


 
More networking & friendships at Anjali camp for craft, dance music & theater at Bhubaneshwar-2002. The team from Roshni will be attending again from 9th to 14th Nov. 2003.
Dr. Shruti Mohapatra the host with Kalyan & father, Manjula, Chetan, Penny and Nisha.
New friendship for Kalyan who has performed well in dance and will go for a second time in 2003.
