Our Mission: To Provide persons with neurological and / or intellectual disability and their families, with services, training and support that will enable them to develop their potential to the maximum in all areas of development (Health, Physical, Educational, Communication, Social skills, Personal Adequacy and Vocational) to become contributing members and lead meaningful lives, ensuring their mainstreaming in society.

ROSHNI
was born under the guidance of Swami Swarupananda secretary Ramakrishna Ashrama who has been actively involved in the educational, social and spiritual upliftment of the deprived, since 1961; and the collective initiative of parents who presssed the need for services locally and two special educators, Ms Manjula Patankar and Ms Priti Kapoor, trained at the Spastics Society of Northern India, New Delhi. Both have rich experiences in awareness raising, training, teaching and project supervision. The Ashram runs two secondary schools, Sneh Kutir and Sarada Balgram for 200 destitute girls and boys, a senior citizen's home, health, naturopathy and yoga center and a music school providing ideal support for Roshni parents and students, for Inclusion.
 

Director of servicesMs Manjula Patankar has worked in varoius projects, as a special Educator Superior and Co-ordinator, for 15 years at the Spastics Society N. India a diploma in special education 1985; certificate in alternative and augmentative communication movement and yoga for children with special needs – UK, and drama therapy; she is Member International Society for Alternative and Augmentative Communication; Member of the National Trust, local level committiee Gwalior; and is also associated with a number of other social and welfare institutions in Gwalior and at national level.

Deputy Director of services Ms Priti Kapoor is a special educator trained in 1983 by NCERT as a key person in the integrated education of the disabled.  She brings in her experience at the Spastics Society of Northern India, where she functioned as deputy head of a project, special educator  in a rural project and as lecturer in the post graduate diploma in special education. She looks after the day to day functioning and training needs at ROSHNI.
